Obituary

Alberta Charlotte Davis, a long-time resident of Oakley, died on December 17, 2012 at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas. She was born on February 21, 1936 in Hutchinson, Kansas to Richard Arthur and Charlotte Minnie (Mullender) Annis. Alberta married Von Davis on June 25, 1969 in Oakley. To this union, three children were born.

Alberta stayed busy after high school by attending Fort Hays State University and was a "Wave" in the Navy. She was a homemaker and as a wife and mother, kept busy as a Sunday school teacher and church work with the Oakley United Methodist Church and a Girl Scout leader for 8 years. Alberta was also very active with the United Methodist Women, Jobs Daughters, and Eastern Star.

Alberta is survived by her husband, Von Davis, her three daughters: Francine Davis of Topeka, Sheryl Janacaro and husband Fred of Lawrence, and DeeDee Peteete of Hays. She also has 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Two brothers survive: Maurice A. Annis and wife Ruth of Oakley, and John R. Annis and wife Lynn of Emmaus, Pennsylvania, her sister Marjorie Carol Annis of Wichita, brother-in-law Glenn Hirsch of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and several nieces and nephews.

Alberta was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Charlotte Annis; and her sister Margaret D. Hirsch.

She will be missed by many, especially her family.
