Bertha L. Joseph, age 88, of Oakley passed away May 10, 2015 at Logan County Hospital, Oakley. She was born in Logan County Kansas on December 1, 1926 to William O. and Beth (Wise) Martin. She married Donne E. Joseph on April 3, 1946 in Colby.
Survivors include her children: Sharon (Vic) Campbell, Greeley, Colorado; Bradley (Vicky) Joseph, Oakley and Marjorie (Jeff) Clarke, Garden City; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; one sister Dorothy (Wilcid) Racette, Oakley; two sisters-in-law Lillian Martin, Oakley and Norinne Schultz, Wichita, and brother-in-law Tauscher Bretz, Goodland.
Bertha was a lifelong resident of Logan and Gove Counties. She worked at the local grocery store for nearly 50 years, retiring at age 87. She loved being with her family and enjoyed her time farming and ranching. Bertha was a member of Pleasant Hour Club and the Oakley United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donne; and three daughters: Donna Jean Joseph, Diane Miller, Shirley Peterson, and son-in-law Gerold Peterson; sisters-Opal Bretz, Lelia Burkhead, and brother Billy Martin.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 14th at the United Methodist Church, Oakley with Pastor Sheryl Johnson officiating and burial immediately following services at the Oakley Cemetery. Visitation: 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Oakley United Methodist Church.
