Obituary

Donald Lee "Donnie" Lintel, age 87, of Oakley, Kansas passed away to join his eternal loved ones on December 11, 2021.  A farmer, rancher and family man, his love of life and generous and kind nature will be his legacy, and will be continued through his family and loved ones.

Donnie was born to Mary and Herman Lintel of Oakley, Kansas on October 18, 1934, he was their only son.  Donnie was also blessed with 7 sisters: Armella Kruse, Laverna Robben, Lela Heier, Eunice Weber, Geraldine Swart, Elaine Hammerschmidt, and Marietta Snyder.  Donnie is survived by Geraldine Swart and his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, as well as the mother of his 8 children, Dixie Sloan Frazier.

After high school, Donnie married Dixie Sloan on June 8, 1953 and they had 8 children:  Dee Ann, Darla, Chris, Caroline, Todd, Jamie, Michelle, and Von.  He celebrated the birth of 24 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Donnie moved to the family farm and continued to develop it by adding the feedlot and modernizing the buildings.  He was a critical part of bringing the irrigation system to the existing land.  Donnie was always proud of his ability to put together an exceptional herd of cattle, a well-honed skill he adopted from his father.

Donnie retired and moved to Kingman, Arizona before moving to Florida to be near more family.  Donnie was living in Florida the last 5 years of his life and was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing.  Donnie had a love of hunting with his sons, cooking for his family until the end, a good card game and making people laugh.  He was a kind man by nature and left this world a better place by living by example and ensuring everyone left with a smile.

Please join us for the service.  Visitation will be on Friday, December 17 th from 5-8 p.m. at Kennedy-Koster Funeral Home with a rosary/wake service on Friday at 7:00 pm. at the funeral home.  Funeral Mass will be Saturday, December 18th at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Oakley at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Luke Thielen officiating.  Burial will follow at the St. Joseph Cemetery.  Memorials can be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church or St. Joseph School in care of Kennedy-Koster Funeral Home, PO Box 221, Oakley, KS 67748.
