Esther Robben was born to Joseph Muths and Katherine (Junk) Muths on July 26, 1915, on the family farm near Tipton, Kansas in Osborne County. She passed away December 12, 2014, in hospice care at Via Christi Village, Wichita, Kansas. On January 8, 1941, she married Bernard (Ben) G. Robben at Holyoke, Colorado, and to this union three children were born, Larry, Linda and Janell.
After World War II, Bernard and Esther built their home in Oakley, Kansas, and Esther continued to live there until she moved to Haysville, Kansas, at the age of 94, to live independently near her daughter, Janell and her family, until December 2013 when she moved to assisted living in Wichita, Kansas. While living in Oakley, she was a member of St. Joseph's Parish where she was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and St. Joseph's Altar Society. For 20 years she was the lunchroom manager at St. Joseph's Catholic School, starting when the school first opened until her retirement. For many years she enjoyed quilting with the quilting club at St. Joseph's Church, and was very proud of the many beautiful rose bushes she grew. Esther was also an avid card player and enjoyed belonging to many card clubs.
Survivors include: son, Larry K. and wife Betty Robben of Thornton, Colorado; and two daughters, Linda J. and husband David Dinkel of Olathe, Kansas, and Janell S. and husband Rex Pawlak of Haysville, Kansas; 6 grandchildren: Audette (Robben) Miller, Renee (Robben) Thomas, Sheila (Dinkel) Sanders, Michael Dinkel, Jeremy Pawlak (deceased), and Michelle Pawlak. She was blessed with 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard (Ben) Robben, her grandson, Jeremy Pawlak, and her brothers Andrew, Teles, Ray, Elmer, Charles, and Julius Muths.
Esther was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed by all of her family and many friends. Esther's family wishes to thank everyone for their assistance and prayers.
Funeral mass was held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at St. Joseph's Church, Oakley with Fr. Donald Pfannenstiel officiating.
