Friedrich "Fred" Wilhelm Stoecker, 99, Oakley, passed away on June 7, 2012 at the Logan County Manor, Oakley. He was born January 20, 1913 on the family farm in Logan County to John and Magdalena (Kranzler) Stoecker. He was a farmer and stockman on the farm located south of Oakley. He married Velma Vollbracht on May 1, 1938 in Colby. After his retirement in 1985, Fred and Velma moved to Oakley. He was a member of Oakley United Methodist Church. Fred will be remembered for his quick wit, humor, good nature, pool playing, and dominos.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Velma (February 16, 2008), daughter, Marjorie Smith (March 17, 2000), 9 brothers, John, Gottlieb, Godfrey, Carl, Barney, Edwin, Emil, David and August Stoecker, and a sister, Lizzie Nickelson.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth (Jan) Stoecker, of Hutchinson; son-in-law, Paul (Dee Ann) Smith, of Oakley; 8 grandchildren, Mark (Ana) Stoecker, Tuba City, AZ, Steve (Katie) Stoecker and children, Kyrsten, Gentry, Haizley and step-great grandchildren, Delaney and Gavin Clemetson of Paola, Stephanie Webb and son, Blake Webb of Kansas City, MO, Paula (Brad) Clement, Greeley, CO, Brad Smith (Becky) and children, Madeline Rose and Brady Fredrick, Olathe; Pam (Mike) White and daughter, Chloe Irene, Prairie Village; Brian (Kelley) Smith and sons, Hudson Paul and Mason Taylor, Wichita; Jeff Smith (Stacie), Wichita; 2 step-grandchildren, Jerry (Annika) Bartlett and children, Emma and Sophia of Stockholm, Sweden and David Bartlett, Overland Park.
The funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at the Oakley United Methodist Church with Pastor Sheryl Johnson officiating. Burial was in the Oakley Cemetery.

Fred will be greatly missed by his family and friends who knew and loved him very much.
