Obituary

Gerald Elmer Berkgren, age 95, of Oakley, died Thursday, March 15, 2018 at the Logan County Manor, Oakley.  He was born on April 13, 1922 in Logan County, Kansas to Elmer and Lettie (Eggleston) Berkgren.  Gerald married Edith Baird on August 30, 1942, in Argonia, KS.  He was a WWII U.S. Army Air Force veteran and a farmer.

Preceded in death by his wife, Edith, in 2010, three brothers:  Harold Berkgren, Royal Berkgren, and Lloyd Berkgren, and three sisters:  Helen Doll, Ruby Long, and Ruth Hogarth.

Survivors include his sons:  Garry Berkgren and wife Shirley and Larry Berkgren and wife Gayla, all of Oakley; daughter, Jeanette Hands and husband Burt of Colorado Springs, CO; 7 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.  Also surviving are his two sisters:  Lois Ware of Oregon and Wauneta Kanton of California.

Funeral service:  Monday, 10:30 AM, March 26, 2018 at the Oakley Wesleyan Church with Rev. Clyde Graham and Pastor Ronnie Wilson officiating.  Visitation:  5 to 8 PM, Sunday, March 25th, at Kennedy-Koster Funeral Home, Oakley.  Military Honors and interment will follow in the Oakley Cemetery.  Memorials to the Oakley Wesleyan Church may be sent in care of Kennedy-Koster Funeral Home, P.O.
