Glenice Loree Urban, age 86, of Oakley, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at the Logan County Manor, Oakley. She was born on March 28, 1928 in Oakley to George James and Myrtle Marie (Stover) Kinsley, the 2nd of three children: Gordon Lamar, Glenice Loree, and James Clayton Kinsley.
She graduated from Oakley High School in 1946. Glenice married Steve J. Urban in 1947 in Oakley.
Glenice traveled and lived in several communities while Steve was enlisted in the U.S. Army. She moved from Phoenix, Arizona back to Oakley and worked at the Kost Drug Store starting in the 1960's. She always loved her dangly earrings and proudly wore them to work in the pharmacy. Glenice was in charge of the soda fountain and she "steel wooled" the place when it was time to clean-up. She really enjoyed serving nickel (5 cent) coffee to 15 to 20 regular coffee shop goer's. She was Kenny Kost's right hand as she knew the "in's and out's" of the drug store business. Paul Smith purchased the pharmacy in the early 1970's and Glenice continued to work there.
Glenice loved Don's Drive In hamburgers and Daylight Donuts. When she was unable to drive, she always enjoyed it when someone would bring her a "DDI" hamburger or "DD" doughnut. She enjoyed these visits with her friends and would share a cup of coffee (no longer a nickel).
Glenice was a loving, fun, and very cheerful co-worker. She always made the work place a "fun" place. She was a joy of any group to share stories and to be around.
Glenice was a faithful member of the Oakley United Methodist Church and Oakley UMW.
Glenice was preceded in death by her parents George and Myrtle, and two brothers: Gordon Kinsley and Jim Kinsley.
Survivors include her son Ron Urban of Denison, Texas, two grandchildren: Travis Urban (wife Alice) and Nicole Rumsey (husband Steve), and four great-grandchildren: Makayla Urban and Cole, Luke and Tesa Rumsey.
Glenice will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
