Helen Boyd, age 93, of Oakley, passed away June 30, 2022 at the Logan County Hospital, Oakley.  She was born on May 8, 1929 in Winona to William "Bill"  and Nanna Gfeller.  She graduated from high school in Winona.  On August 15, 1954, Helen married Maurice Boyd in Page City.  To this union came 2 son's, Steven and Robert.  They were married for 55 years before Maurice passed away in 2009.

Helen worked for Farmers State Bank for several years as bookkeeper.  She enjoyed working alongside her sister Lois and several of her other co-workers.  After leaving the bank she started babysitting from her home.  She enjoyed watching the kids that she sat for grow into adults.  She also enjoyed working in the yard and gardening.  She enjoyed a good competition between her and Maurice as to who could grow the best garden.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Nanna Gfeller, husband Maurice Boyd, brothers:  Harold Gfeller, Ralph Gfeller, Don Gfeller,  and Chet Gfeller; and sisters:  Lois Nickelson, Gladys Collins, and Frieda Wickizer.

Surviving relatives include her sons:  Steve Boyd and wife Carol, Bob Boyd and wife Ladena, all of Oakley; grandsons:  Dalton Boyd and fiancé Janessa Selbe of Quinter and Dillon Boyd of Oakley, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Graveside service will be July 9th at 10:00 a.m. at the Oakley Cemetery with Pastor Bob Kelly officiating.  Memorials to Helen Boyd Memorial Fund may be sent to Kennedy-Koster Funeral Home, PO Box 221, Oakley, KS  67748.
