Jack Donald Mitten, age 85, of Sharon Springs, (formerly of Oakley), passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at the Greeley County Hospital, Tribune. He was born October 20, 1929 in New West Minister, British Columbia, Canada, to Wayne Starmer Mitten and Eva Jean (McIntyre) Becker. Jack married Bonnie Marie Davis on October 9, 1962 in WaKeeney. He was an owner of Mittens Cafe in Oakley and a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.
Preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Eva; his brothers: Tom, Jim, and Wayne Mitten Jr.; and a sister, Wanda Penley. Survivors: his wife Bonnie of the home, son J.D. Mitten (Lisa) of Wallace, daughter Debbie Summers (Darrin) of Sharon Springs; a sister, Mildred Bashore of San Francisco, California; five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral service: 11:00 a.m. CT, Saturday, May 30, 2015 at the Gateway Fellowship Church, Oakley and with military honors. Visitation: 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. CT, Friday at the Impact Center.
