Josephine "Jo" Heier was born August 3, 1926 on a family farm near St. Peter, Ks to Jacob and Katherine (Niernberger) Bollig. She passed away November 15, 2013 at the Gove County Medical Center, Quinter.
She attended school at St. Peter and married Bill Heier on August 26, 1947 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, St. Peter. He survives.
Jo was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Oakley, Altar Society and also taught the First Communion Religious Education class at St. Joseph's for many years. She was a homemaker and helpmate to her husband on their farm south of Page City.
Among her interests were sewing, crafts and painting/varnishing the wooden toys that Bill had made. Along with Bill, she enjoyed attending ball games and school activities of her daughters and grandsons. She loved her family, especially time spent with the grandsons and great grandchildren.
Other survivors – three daughters, Judy Conway and husband Don of Dodge City, Norma Zerr and husband Ralph of Park, Dorothy Latham and husband Bryan of Winona, – 6 grandsons, Dexter Zerr and friend Mary of Park, Douglas Zerr and fiancé Kendra of Olathe, Dustin Latham and wife Tina of Winona, Shaun Conway and wife Amy of Wichita, Travis Latham and wife Stacey of Winona, Daryl Zerr and wife Heather of Grainfield, a sister, Louise Dreiling and husband Leonard of Arlington Heights, IL and 8 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 7 brothers: Alphonse, Edgar, William, Walter, Albert, Alfred and Clarence; and 6 sisters: Seraphine Bollig, Seraphina Scheck, Lorraine Herrman, Angelita Newman, Frances Holzmeister, and Ruby Bollig.
Jo will be greatly missed, but lovingly remembered by her family and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 19 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Oakley with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation: Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Kennedy-Koster Funeral Home, with rosary/wake service at 7:00 p.m.
