Josephine Catherine (Dickman) Stoecker, age 88, passed away May 9, 2012 at the Logan County Manor, Oakley, Kansas. Josephine was born to Frank B. Dickman and Catherine B. (Halbleib) Dickman on May 23, 1923 at St. Anthony's Hospital, Hays, Kansas. She had a twin brother George. They lived on the family farm in Sheridan County. Josephine attended country school and graduated from Menlo High School.
Josephine married Herman Fredrick Stoecker on April 20, 1949 at St. Joseph's Church rectory in Oakley. She was a homemaker and they lived in Oakley. After Herman retired from farming in 1980, they enjoyed traveling, fishing, and camping. She was very proud of her bird collection and was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and St. Joseph's Altar Society.
Josephine is survived by her sister Emma Ferrick of Toledo, Ohio, sisters-in-law Louise Smith (Kenneth) of Winona, Luella Baalman of Gardner, Kansas, Betty Stoecker and Irene M. Stoecker of Oakley, and 12 nieces and 10 nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Catherine, her husband Herman (August 26, 2001), and brothers Leonard Dickman and George Dickman; brothers-in-law; Mike Ferrick, Charles Baalman, Lawrence Stoecker, and Leo Stoecker; and infant Anna Stoecker.
Josephine will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
