Leona M. Boeger, age 82, died December 11, 2012 at the Gove County Medical Center, Quinter. She was born March 23, 1930 to Jake and Anna (Kaiser) Heinrich. She married George V. Boeger on November 28, 1950 in Grainfield. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Oakley, a past member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Angelus, and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary V.F.W. Post 2864 of Grinnell. She enjoyed doing needlepoint, embroidering towels, canning, quilting, and cake decorating. Leona collected angel figurines and oil lamps. She had been a waitress at Mitten's Café in Oakley, and was a member of the first group of waitresses when the cafe opened.
Survivors include her sons Mark of Colby, James of Grinnell, Glenn of Colby, and Clinton of Topeka, and her daughter, Georgianna Smith of Augusta; brothers Melvin Heinrich of Braman, OK and Leo Heinich of Denver; sisters Catherine Morel of Grainfield and Pauline Ribordy of Oakley, 9 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George (1994), infant daughter Mary Beoger, and brothers Frank Heinrich (infant) and Don Heinrich.
