Lloyd Edwin
Theimer
September 26, 1922 – February 25, 2018
Lloyd Edwin Theimer, age 95, entered eternal life with Jesus on February 25, 2018, at the Logan County Hospital, Oakley.
He was born September 26, 1922, at his maternal grandparents' farm home in Thomas County to George and Elma (Kistler) Theimer. Lloyd was baptized into the Christian faith by Dr. A.P. Martin on January 21,1923, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Page City. In this Christian faith, Lloyd was confirmed August 15, 1937, by Pastor Liljedahl, and remained faithful throughout his life.
He attended Prairie Bell rural school, a two mile walk from his home. In 1940 he graduated from Page City High School. Following high school, he worked at the ASCS office in Colby until he attended Bethany College in Lindsborg. During World War II, Lloyd served stateside as an Aviation Machinist's Mate until he was appointed chief, which he declined at the end of the War so he could return to operate the family farm.
On June 19, 1944, Lloyd and Ruth Olson were married in Alcester, South Dakota, by Ruth's father Rev. Nels Olson. They were blessed with four children: Virginia, Esther, Loretta, and Everett.
Lloyd's first two loves were his family and farming, and his hopes were that his family would never lose their solid roots in agriculture. Lloyd loved raising beef cattle, all kinds of animals, and tending a beautiful rose garden. He served the Lord in church activities, including education and guiding building projects. Lloyd was involved with many areas of government and history, serving on numerous boards and supporting the preservation of history.
Preceding Lloyd in death were his parents, a daughter Virginia, grandson Jeffrey Rhoads, and a sister, Elsie Peterson.
Survivors include his wife Ruth, of Oakley, his children: Esther (Ray) Rhoads of Topeka, Loretta (Gary) Zimbelman of Topeka, and Everett (Cindy) Theimer of Colby; son-in-law Kjell Erlandsson of Milwaukee, WI; grandchildren: Kathryn Clapper, Susanne Beck, Carolyn Clapper, Ann Warren, Steven Rhoads, Sara Waltman, Laura Ollek, Anna Burk, Kristin Merchant, Rebecca Wehkamp, and Andrew Theimer. Lloyd was blessed with 12 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers: Walter (Doris) Theimer of Omaha, NE and Howard Theimer of Wichita, and his sister, Marie Peterson, of Manhattan.
The family will certainly miss Dad (Grandpa), but rejoice that he is with his Heavenly Father.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Oakley, with Pastor Michael Brockman officiating. Burial with military honors by the Colby American Legion will be in Beulah Cemetery, Colby. There will be no visitation.
Memorials in lieu of flowers are to the Immanuel Lutheran Church and may be sent to Kennedy-Koster Funeral Home, P.O. Box 221, Oakley 67748.
