Marian Helen Boyd, age 91, former resident of Monument, Kansas died November 7, 2024 in Denver, Colorado after a long illness. She was born January 6, 1933, on a farm east of Page City, Kansas to Arthur Theodore Peterson and Helen Regina (Gustafson) Peterson. She was the middle child of seven children and oldest of three daughters. Marian attended Page City Public School before obtaining her teaching certificate at Bethany Collage (Lindsborg, Kansas). After that she returned to Logan County and taught at Monument Elementary School through the mid-1950s.
Marian married Thelbert T. Boyd on August 3, 1958. They had two daughters: Esther and Carolyn. After her daughters were raised, she became the Monument School lunchroom cook, where she worked for over a decade.
Marian enjoyed art and homemaking. She took pride and pleasure in working in her flower garden. She sewed countless quilts for Lutheran World Relief and enjoyed hours of oil and watercolor painting. Many of her friends and family were gifted with paintings over the years.
She was a life-long Lutheran and long-time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Oakley, Kansas. She deeply loved and appreciated her church family. Marian is preceded in death by her husband, Thelbert; brothers: Lawrence, Winston, Melvin and Adron; and sisters: Joyce Bortz and Luella Eshelman. She is survived by daughters: Esther Boyd and Carolyn Boyd (Jon Loughmiller).
Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 16, 2024 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Oakley with Pastor Matthew Koterba, officiating. Interment will follow at the Monument Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 p.m. on Friday, November 15th at Kennedy-Koster Funeral Home.
