Marie Flax passed away at the Logan County Manor on December 8, 2013 at the age of 95.

She was born on June 20, 1918 in Clay County, Kansas to Peter and Wilhelmina "Minnie" (Falstrom) Berg. Marie was the youngest of nine children.

Marie married Carl Flax on September 24, 1936 in Longmont, Colorado at Carl's parent's home. They returned to Gove County, Kansas. In 1943, they moved to a farm in Logan County, Kansas where they raised two daughters. Marie and Carl retired and moved to Oakley in 1976.

Marie was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Altar Society, and Pleasant Hour Club. She was a homemaker and worked part-time for Glenn at the Malt-A-Burger. She enjoyed gardening and keeping in touch with her grandchildren.

Marie is survived by her daughter Betty Albers of Loleta, California, 8 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 26 great-great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-great grandchildren, her extended family at the Logan County Manor, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Minnie, husband Carl (1992), a daughter, Deloris Cherny (1988), five brothers: John, Arvin, Arthur, William, and Herman Berg; three sisters: Selma Berg, Elvena Nelson and Amelia Berg, 2 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Our grandmother Marie will be missed by all of her family and many friends.

The funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 14, 2013 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Oakley with Fr. Donald F. Pfannenstiel officiating. Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery. A visitation will be held Friday, December 13, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a rosary/wake service at 7:00 p.m. at Kennedy-Koster Funeral Home, Oakley.
