Obituary

Addeline Pearl Samuelson was born in Oakley on March 9, 1925 to Ernest and Anna Christine Scholl.  She passed away on January 30, 2017 at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita at the age of 91.

Pearl married Floyd A. Samuelson on December 22, 1945 in Oakley.  To this union four children were born:  daughter Gayla, and sons:  Harley, Dale, and Tim.  She worked as a Harvey Girl in Kansas City when Floyd was in the service, and went to business school.  She worked as a school bus driver for over 30 years, and worked at the Methodist Church as a custodian.  She was a member of the Oakley Methodist Church, Oakley V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, and the Red Hat Ladies of Ahhs.  Pearl loved going to auctions and estate sales and playing crossword puzzle on the iPad.  She also loved visiting with grandchildren and playing bridge.

Survivors include daughter Gayla and husband Larry Berkgren of Oakley, and sons:  Harley Samuelson of McPherson, Dale and wife Lorraine Samuelson of Oakley, and Tim Samuelson of Oakley; 8 grandchildren:  Tara Cay and husband Mark Temaat of Oakley, Mike and wife Teri Berkgren of Oakley, Tyler and wife Patty Samuelson of Olathe, Andy Samuelson of Las Vegas, Nevada, Barry and wife Sarah Samuelson of Oakley, Whitney and husband Zach Schneider of Lawrence, and Mark Samuelson and Steven Samuelson of Oakley.

15 Great grandchildren are:  (Tyler's) Alec, Blake, Liam and Ava Samuelson of Olathe, (Barry's) Aaron, Eli, Isaac, and Olson Samuelson of Oakley, (Whitney's) Ezra Schneider of Lawrence, (Tara's) Matthew Temaat and wife Sydney of Manhattan, Breanna Temaat of Manhattan, Jonathan of Oakley, and (Mike's) Jason, Jenna, and Jaime Berkgren of Oakley.

Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, husband Floyd, and brother Evert Scholl.

Pearl was a great wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to so many.  She will be sincerely missed by everyone.

Funeral service:  10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Kennedy-Koster Funeral Home, Oakley, with Pastor Bob Kelly officiating.  Interment will follow in Oakley Cemetery.  Visitation:  Friday, from 5 – 8 p.m. at Kennedy-Koster Funeral Home.  Memorials to Pearl Samuelson Memorial Fund may be sent in care of the funeral home, PO Box 221, Oakley, KS  67748.
