Wesley Dean Flinn, 56, of Ellis, Kansas, passed away on September 25th, 2024, in his truck in Summit, Illinois. He was born in Oakley, Kansas, on January 9th, 1968, to Arnold and Belva Flinn. He was the youngest of three boys.
Wes was an over-the-road truck driver for several years and spent five years running his own business, a car detail shop in Hays, along with driving for some local trucking companies. He was always in a hurry to get home and see his wife and family. When Wes wasn't in the truck, he enjoyed collecting and working on pickups and has always loved loud exhaust, his pet snakes, and his dogs and cat.
Wes had two children: his son Nathan Barnhardt and daughter Bridget Schlereth. Wes started dating Rhonda Tauber and they were married on September 25, 2005 in Cimarron, Kansas. Through this union, he gained three more children: Wesley, Tony, and Trista.
Wes was preceded in death by his father, Arnold, son, Nathan, and step-brother-in-law, Dustin Richardson.
Wes is survived by his wife Rhonda of the home, mother Belva, daughter Bridget Schlereth, step-sons: Wesley (Anna) Gilliland and Tony Gilliland, step-daughter, Trista (Jordan) Komarek; mother and father-in-law, Delores (Verlyn) Richardson and his father-in-law Charles Tauber; brothers: Rick Flinn and Mitch Flinn, brothers-in-law: Travis (Juli) Tauber and Troy (Stacy) Tauber, step-sisters-in-law: Stacy (Darin) Honeyman, Kristy (Clint) Howard, and Lacey Richardson (Brett); and 15 nieces and nephews, along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral Service is 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at Kennedy-Koster Funeral Home with Pastor Kyle Bloom officiating. Private inurnment with family will be held at a later date in the Oakley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.
