Wilma F. Medlin Barry passed away January 16, 2008, at the Logan County Manor in Oakley, Kansas. She had recently moved to her hometown of Oakley from Las Cruces, New Mexico where she had lived for the last 27 years. She is survived by two nieces, Kristy Medlin Herl and husband Jay of Colby, Kansas, and Dalene Barry Dean and husband Joe of Washington, DC, three great-nieces, Katharine Herl, Rebecca Herl, and Meredith Dean and husband, Elijah Torn, and one great-nephew, Matthew Dean. She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. H. Lee Barry, parents Ralph B. and Martha F. Howard Medlin, and brother and sister-in-law Lewis H. and Lucille Medlin.
Mrs. Barry was born March 19, 1920, at Oakley, Kansas. She was a graduate of Oakley High School and earned a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Kansas.
Mrs. Barry was a member of The International Society of Poets and a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star. She also served as President of both the Sedgwick County Medical Society Auxiliary and the Kansas State Medical Society Auxiliary.
During the 1950s and 1960s, Mrs. Barry was a featured soloist at the East Heights Methodist Church in Wichita, Kansas. She was a board member of the Saturday Afternoon Musical Club, and served as President of the Wichita Alumnae Chapter of Mu Phi Epsilon music fraternity.
